The movie Cinderella is a classic, but it’s also sexist, still despite the remake of 2021 which promised to be empowering and bold.

(The video is below)

One of the main problems with this film is that Cinderella doesn’t fight back against her stepmother or anyone else, and still is hinged on the men in the movie, every step of the way.

There are many ways she could have fought back without using violence or magic.  She never tried to stand up for herself in any way, even with her male fairy godmother who puts her in uncomfortable shoes! This sends a message that women should just put up with mistreatment from other people because there isn’t anything you can do about it anyway.

If you want your children to learn positive values instead of negative ones, don’t let them watch this poorly produced and directed film, that perpetuates disempowered females every step of the way. Not one female is empowered in this movie, and even the narcissist “boss” queen (see video) only cares about her dresses.

Instead, go see something else at the movies or rent one of these films on Amazon Prime instead – maybe Sense, and Sensibility…
